th3 r3vibal - Local and Global
…building supportive communities rooted in love and compassion
In every corner of the world, chant groups are keeping sacred traditions alive—each one an island of hope. Th3 R3vibal brings these voices together to create a global soundscape of healing, unity, and spiritual awakening. At a time when humanity faces deep division and widespread suffering, th3 r3vibal is a movement to acknowledge the ancient vibrations of love and compassion and let them echo across the Earth.
Kirtan = Connection
...with God and with community
the God out there and the God in my heart - Namaste
Kirtan = Creating Joy through music
Out of my head and into my heart
There are 7,159 languages in the world, which means that there is the potential for that many names for God. In Kirtan we are simply chanting the names of God, knowing that God can only be represented symbolically and means different things to different people. We honor those differences.
Kirtan is call/response music
It has it's roots in India
Kirtan in the west has truly taken on its own characteristics including western musical styles, spiritual influences and the use of English.
Vakratunda
Vakratunda
One of my favorite slokas
Using the symbolism of the elephant head god, Ganesha to clear the way through the jungle that we call life, removing obstacles in our path and placing them where we dare not traverse.
Vakratunda - the one whit the twisted trunk.
Mahakaya - the one with the massive body.
Suryakoti Samaprabha - shining with the brightness of a million suns.
Nirvighanam Kuru Me Deva - please free my task from obstacles that may stand in my way.
So we sing this each time to clear the way for our Kirtan practice.
